AIT Pune - Admission 2026, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

AIT Pune has started the admission process for the academic year 2024-25. The authorities provide admission based on entrance examination scores such as JEE Main and GATE for BTech and MTech admissions, respectively. JEE Main 2024 session 2 registrations are ongoing till March 2 and the exam will be held from April 4 - April 15, 2024. Further, GATE 2024 answer key will be released online on February 21, 2024.  

Established in 1994, Army Institute of Technology (AIT) is an engineering college in Pune. The institution was established when Gen B.C. Joshi, PVSM AVSM, ADC (1935–1994), the then Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, realised the need for an engineering college for the children of the personnel of all ranks in the Indian Army. AIT is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). AIT Pune is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A’ Grade in 2016. The institution is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Army Institute of Technology NIRF Ranking is out, and it has been ranked 172nd in the engineering category.

AIT Pune is operated by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). It has the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army (COAS) as the president of its Board of Governors. AIT offers admission only to the wards of army personnel. It offers undergraduate courses in computer engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, information technology, and mechanical engineering, and a postgraduate course in mechanical design. All the AIT courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

AIT Pune offers several scholarships to its students based on the merit system. Some of the AIT scholarships are as below:

• The Prime Minister scholarship scheme is provided for students in their first year and dependent wards/ widows of ex-servicemen. As per the scheme, boys are provided Rs 2,500 pm, and girls are provided Rs 3,000 per month.
• The Education Scholarship (ESSA) scheme is provided for the wards of serving army personnel and Military Nursing Service (MNS) officers below the age of 25 years at the time of completion of their course. As per the scheme, students are provided Rs 6,000 per month.
• The Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) scholarship is provided for the wards of soldiers who die in harness. The scheme provides Rs 50,000 and a one-time computer grant to the students.
• PRAGATI Scholarship is provided for girls admitted in the first year whose family income is less than Rs 8 Lakhs per annum. As per the scheme, tuition fees of Rs 30,000 per annum and Rs 2,000 per month for 10 months as incidental charges are provided.
• SAKSHAM Scholarship is provided for specially-abled boys and girls with not less than 40% disability, students admitted in the first year whose family income is less than Rs 8 Lakh per annum. As per the scheme, tuition fees of Rs 30,000 per annum and Rs 2,000 per annum for 10 months as incidental charges are provided.
• UDCHALO Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship provided in the below ratio:
  • 50% - academics in theory papers.
  • 35% - enterprising aptitude
  • 15% - additional responsibilities.

Students participating in this scheme must have no backlogs and must have cleared all papers. As per the scheme, Rs 15,000 is provided for the first shortlisted students and Rs 10,000 for the second shortlisted students.

• HASHMAP Tech India Pvt Ltd Scholarship will be granted to students from the second year onwards.  Students should have no backlogs, should have a minimum of a 7.0 GPA in the previous year's university examination, should have a minimum attendance of 75% in the preceding academic year, and should not have any involvement in any disciplinary cases. As per the scheme, Rs 15,000 is provided. The precedence of the scholarship will be given for:
  • Wards of martyrs.
  • Wards of widows/divorcees
  • Wards of retired ORs (Other Rank)
  • Wards of retired JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers)
  • Wards of serving ORs
  • Wards of serving JCOs
• Persistent Systems Scholarship is provided for girls with a minimum of 85% marks in physics, chemistry, and mathematics and a family income of less than Rs 30,0000 per annum. As per the scheme, girls are provided with Rs 40,000 per annum.
• BADVE Scholarship is provided to students in the below categories:
  • Category 1 – BE topper in final year exams
  • Category 2 – Best Technical skillset in the final year
  • Category 3 - Girl students with a minimum of 55% marks without backlogs and whose family income is less than Rs 350000/- pa.

          As per the scheme, Rs 15,000 is provided to students.

• Zs Associates Scholarship is provided for first-year students whose family income is less than Rs 4,00,000 per annum and who have scored first-class in Class 12 exams. As per the scheme, 50% of total fees is provided to students.
• TATA Merit Scholarship is offered to top-scoring students in the second year/ third year/ final year in computer and IT. As per the scheme, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 are provided to selected students.
• The new Indian Express Readers Scholarship is offered to top-scoring students in the second year/ third year and final year of electronics, telecommunication, and mechanical branches. As per the scheme, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 are provided to selected students.
• Horizon Scholarship is provided for needy wards of retired ORs. As per the scheme, Rs 15,000 is offered to selected students.
• Merit cum Means Scholarship is provided to the wards of JCOs and ORs. As per the scheme, Rs 10,000  is provided for ORs wards, and Rs 15,000/- is provided for JCOs wards.
• Open Merit Scholarship is offered to one top-scoring student of each division. As per the scheme, Rs 10,000 is offered to students.

AIT Pune offers BE and ME courses in multiple specialisations. AIT BE courses are offered in four specialisations  - computer engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, information technology, and mechanical engineering.
